Real estate has historically been a great market to get into, because they’re not making any new land. But it’s also a sector that’s been slow to adopt to new technology, according to SpatialFirst co-founder Emily Olman. Though real estate and architecture hasn’t lingered in the stone ages; virtual tours allow people to visit potential future homes before actually setting foot in it, and homes that don’t exist yet can be designed collaboratively in VR.
But Emily is looking even beyond those applications, and envisions volumetric capture, IOT, and smart buildings being used to create a network of context spread over the real world. You wouldn’t just be able to tour your future home designed in VR, but you could also see it in context constructed in the city of your choice, and see which ones are more conducive to your vision.
