Leading creative edge platform, MetaVRse, receives Epic MegaGrant to propel Engine development ahead of schedule
TORONTO, ON – September 22, 2021 – MetaVRse today announced its receipt of an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games, creators of the Unreal Engine, for further development of interoperability between MetaVRse and Unreal Engine. The MetaVRse Engine is the world’s most powerful web-based 3D editor, and works towards a vision unlocking the power of XR creation and development for everyone. The MetaVRse Engine is device/browser/OS agnostic and strives to create a seamless experience for engineers, designers, marketers, educators, and (most importantly) students, across every industry, providing unlimited potential for 3D communications.
“The Epic MegaGrant will accelerate the advancement of our engine by several months, strengthening our mission of unlocking the power of spatial computing for everyone. We couldn’t be more thrilled with this opportunity from an industry leader such as Epic Games – thank you, Epic!” said Julie Smithson, Co-Founder and COO of MetaVRse.
Currently, the MetaVRse Engine accepts OBJ & FBX 3D model files. The ultimate goal is to automatically accept industry-standard formats including GLB and USD, which dovetail nicely into the Unreal Engine. The Epic MegaGrant makes this GLB & USD integration possible on an expedited timeline, allowing for a better user experience for all. The MetaVRse Engine can be accessed directly here: https://engine.metavrse.com. MetaVRse anticipates that by the end of Phase 1, full and automatic support for GLB and USD formats in the MetaVRse Engine will be achieved.
